Onion and Beef Deep Dish Pie (6 Servings)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 (8oz) container sour cream
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp thyme dried or chopped fresh
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 (10 oz) pkg frozen sweet peas with butter, thawed
- 1 frozen pre-rolled puff pastry sheet, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, chopped onion and minced garlic until beef is browned and onion is tender. Drain off excess fat. Stir in sour cream, flour, thyme, and pepper. Fold in the sweet peas. Pour the mixture into a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Cut the pastry sheet to fit inside the top of the baking dish. Place it over the ground beef mixture and brush lightly with beaten egg. Use a fork to pierce holes in the top of the pastry sheet. Bake in the oven for 25-35 minutes. To serve, spoon deep dish pie onto individual dinner plates.
